This avant-garde sculptural piece incorporates antique Japanese embroidery which has been re-embroidered with vintage beads, sequins, and trim, by a contemporary master embroiderer. The entire piece is wired to create a dramatic shape. Bleached golden pheasant tail plumes and extra long bleached coq tail plumes evoke the fanciful birds' tails and wings.
This wearable, sculptural work of art was created using the millinery technique of wiring. Specialized costume crafts, such as wiring, are what set the studio apart from other couture studios. Liasons with noted artisans such as embroiderers, jewelers, dyers, milliners, and others, make avant-garde art pieces a distinct possibility.
